Type Locality and Naming

Named after the Kashkadar'ya River, Zarafshan Range. E. G. Fedorov et al., 1987. Stratotype on the watershed of the Kashkadarya and Jindadyarya rivers, east of the village of Madmon.

Synonym: Kashkadary Reef Complex, Кашкадарьинский рифовый компл.


Lithology and Thickness

Reef formations: organogenic polymictic massive limestones with layers of limestone breccias and black flaggy cherts. Thickness 220-310m.

Lower contact

Normally overlies the Khodzhakurgan Fm

Contains rugose corals - Sociophyllum longiseptatum (Bul.), S. tarosum (Schlüt.), Neomphyma minima (Ivania), Acanthophyllum vermiculare (Goldf.), Dendrostella trigeme (Quenst.); brachiopods Stringocephalidae; conodonts - Polygnathus costatus costatus Kl., P. cf. eiflius Bish. et Ziegl., P. varcus Stauf., P. pseudofoliatus Witt., Tortodus kockelianus kockelianus (Bish. et Ziegl.).
